  • Sustainable, Responsible &/or ESG Policy:

The Fund seeks to provide income and capital growth over the long term (a period of at least 10 years).

The Fund invests in the following asset classes: equity securities (shares of companies and other equity related investments), fixed income securities (tradeable debt that may
pay interest, such as bonds) (“FI Securities”), money-market instruments (“MMIs”, bonds with short term maturities), cash and deposits. The Fund may gain indirect exposure to real estate through investment in property funds, REITs, and shares in property investment companies. The Fund can invest in any country (including emerging markets), region, currency and sector.

Typically between 30-70% of the portfolio will be invested indirectly, meaning the Fund will invest in other funds which will give exposure to the asset classes noted above. The amount of the portfolio invested in other funds is not fixed and will vary within this range according to the Manager’s views and market conditions. It is very unlikely that the amount of investment in other funds will be less than 30% or more than 70%. However, in events such as extreme market movements, indirect exposure through other funds may fall outside of this range but the manager will seek to rectify this exposure as soon as possible. The other funds invested in may include those managed by the Manager and the Barclays Group.

Where the Fund invests in equity securities, at least 70% of its direct equity exposure will be to companies that are domiciled and listed or traded in developed markets (which may include Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development member states).

FI Securities and MMIs may be issued by companies, governments, government agencies and supranationals (e.g. International Bank for Reconstruction and Development).

The Investment Manager (“IM”) may invest in the full range of FI Securities and MMIs which may include those with a low credit rating or which are unrated.

Where the Fund invests directly in companies it will follow ethical screening criteria, and in accordance with these criteria it will aim not to have any direct exposure to  companies that generate more than 10% of their turnover from the production of tobacco, the manufacture or sale of arms or gambling and no more than 3% turnover from pornography. The IM will use a third party screening tool to select companies which meet these criteria.

The IM may invest in derivatives to help achieve the Fund’s investment objective (investment purposes), and also for the purpose of efficient portfolio management.

    The Fund is actively managed.
