Objectives:
The Fund’s investment objective is to replicate the price and the performance, before fees and expenses, of an index that supports sustainable food production and development and provides exposure to the performance of companies involved in food and agricultural technology, organic foods, or food companies that display high standards in food waste, food safety or environmental impact. The Fund has a sustainable investment objective. In order to seek to achieve its investment objective, the Manager will normally use a replication strategy by investing directly in the underlying equity securities of the MVIS® Global Future of Food ESG Index (the “Index”).

The Fund has a sustainable investment objective, with an emphasis on environmental objective: it aims at supporting sustainable food production and consumption practices. A single trade in VanEck Sustainable Future of Food UCITS ETF buys a portfolio diversified across the following sectors:
- Meat replacement products and other alternative proteins
- Food flavoring businesses aiming to improve the flavor of artificial meat
- High precision agriculture that improves productivity

As a passive, index-tracking strategy, the fund replicates a global index of companies involved in food and agricultural technology, organic foods, and sustainable food systems. Furthermore, the Index applies ESG exclusions based on, but not limited to, norm-based screening, controversial weapons, tobacco, firearms, coal, oil sands, fossil fuels, nuclear energy, and coal, oil, and gas power generation.
In addition, the Glass Lewis ESG-tilted voting policy is applied, whereby cast votes in shareholder meetings of companies in the portfolio concern sustainability matters.
Good governance practices of the investee companies are assessed by excluding companies that very severely violate the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Process:
The Fund is a passive investment vehicle whose investment objective is to replicate, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the the MVIS® Global Future of Food ESG Index. Thereby, the fund managers do not take active participation in the fund construction.
The index methodology excludes companies based on, but not limited to, , according to ISS data.

In some actively managed funds, we incorporate ESG considerations as part of our comprehensive financial analysis, while in some passively managed products, our focus includes working with index providers to ensure ESG factors are appropriately reflected in our investment selections. Since 2017, VanEck has been a committed signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). We have established a European ESG Committee dedicated to implementing and overseeing our sustainability and ESG-related practices. VanEck Europe may proactively engage with index providers to review and, where necessary, modify sustainability and ESG-related screening criteria for our passively managed investment products. This engagement is guided by our commitment to aligning with the best interests of our investors, striving to apply and incorporate additional pertinent criteria whenever feasible.
