Objectives:
This fund aims to deliver positive environmental and social outcomes by tracking the ICE ESG Global Corporate ex GBP Index, which applies rigorous ESG screening. The index excludes issuers involved in controversial sectors such as tobacco, thermal coal, oil sands, and controversial weapons, as well as those violating UN Global Compact principles. It also removes companies with poor ESG ratings or significant ESG-related controversies. By investing in a diversified portfolio of global corporate bonds that meet these criteria, the fund supports responsible corporate behavior and encourages improved ESG practices across markets.
Sustainable, Responsible
&/or ESG Overview:
This fund is designed to offer investors exposure to global corporate bonds while integrating ESG considerations. It follows a passive strategy that tracks an index applying ESG screens to exclude issuers involved in controversial sectors or with poor ESG practices. The fund aims to support responsible investing by avoiding companies that breach UN Global Compact principles or are involved in activities such as tobacco, thermal coal, and controversial weapons. By doing so, it seeks to align financial returns with sustainability values, promoting long-term environmental and social benefits alongside economic performance.

Sustainable, Responsible &/or ESG Policy:
This fund employs a rules-based ESG screening approach by tracking the ICE ESG Global Corporate ex GBP Index. It excludes issuers involved in controversial weapons, tobacco, thermal coal, and oil sands, as well as those violating UN Global Compact principles. The index also removes companies with severe ESG controversies or low ESG ratings. These exclusions aim to reduce exposure to sustainability risks and support responsible corporate behavior. The fund does not actively engage in thematic investing but contributes to positive outcomes by reallocating capital away from environmentally and socially harmful activities. Metrics such as the percentage of portfolio revenue from excluded sectors and ESG rating distributions are used to monitor alignment with ESG goals. The fund’s passive strategy ensures transparency and consistency in ESG application, offering investors a sustainable fixed income solution with global diversification.
Process:
This fund follows a passive investment strategy by replicating the ICE ESG Global Corporate ex GBP Index. The process begins with defining a broad universe of global investment-grade corporate bonds, excluding those denominated in GBP. The index applies ESG screening criteria to exclude issuers involved in controversial weapons, tobacco, thermal coal, and oil sands, as well as those that violate the UN Global Compact principles or have severe ESG controversies. ESG data is sourced from MSCI ESG Research and ICE Data Services, which provide ratings, controversy assessments, and sector involvement data. Bonds that meet the ESG criteria are included in the index, which the fund then replicates. The index is reviewed and rebalanced regularly to reflect updated ESG data. BlackRock’s internal teams oversee compliance and risk management to ensure the fund remains aligned with its ESG objectives.
